24. Wild horse in the Camargue at the mouth of the Rhone in the South of France. These horses are always born brown or black and turn white when they are about four years old. They run wild or semi-wild in small herds, being rounded up once a year and some ridden to round up the Camargue bulls. The staining on the end of their tails and their legs is caused by long periods standing in the peaty water of their wetland home.
